Assistant, chatbot, or system assistant?

Assistant Creator Since 0.1.0

Three kinds of helper live in Ajutant. Knowing which is which saves confusion later.

A purpose-built helper for a job, “Absence Reporter”, “Contract Reviewer”. It has its own persona and instructions, a knowledge base, optional tools, and its own settings. This is what you build in this lane.

A plain, governed model chat: a private alternative to a public chatbot, bound to a specific model. No custom knowledge or tools; just a general-purpose conversation your organisation controls. Administrators set these up in the admin area.

A built-in helper that powers the platform itself, the Receptionist that routes people to assistants, the Document Analyst behind “chat with document”, and the AI helpers that draft assistants and documents. You configure these on their own pages rather than the full editor; you don’t create or delete them.

  • Need a helper for a specific job, grounded in your content? → Assistant.
  • Just want a governed general model chat? → ask an administrator to add a chatbot.
  • Want to change how routing or document chat behaves? → a system assistant setting.
